It is important that you understand which proctoring settings will work best for your tests. The following list explains the various proctoring settings that are available in HackerEarth Recruit:
Disable the Copy and Paste feature in the code editor
We recommend that you enable this setting if your test contains a question that requires the candidate to write code. When this setting is enabled, a candidate cannot copy the code (for example, from the Web or a local computer) and paste it into the code editor.
Disable copying of problem statements
If the problem statement, irrespective of whether it is from your custom library or from the HackerEarth library, should not be shared by the candidate on the Web. To prevent this from happening, we recommend that you keep this setting enabled at all times.
Take snapshots of candidates during tests
When this option is enabled, candidates must give permission to enable the webcam on their computers. If they do not, they cannot take the test.
When the test is live, we take a snapshot of the candidate at random intervals. A thumbnail preview of the webcam will be displayed on the bottom right of the screen, which tells candidates that they’re being monitored during the test.
When to enable
- Enable this option for candidates who are taking the test remotely. Ensure that you inform them in advance that they need a webcam.
- Do not enable this option in the following scenarios:
- If you know that the candidate does not have/have access to a webcam.
- For universities where the tests are taken in the Computer labs because most computers in the lab may not have a webcam.
Restrict candidates to full-screen mode during tests
You can enable this to prevent candidates from cheating. Ensure that you enable this setting during university exams where the exams are monitored by invigilators.
Log candidates out when they leave the test environment
This setting measures the following:
- Browser tolerance for tests
- Number of times a candidate can move out of the test environment
When this is enabled, the system gives the candidate a warning each time they move out of the test environment. The following actions include but are not limited to actions that are considered as ‘moving out of the test environment’: - Switching tabs
- Switching windows
- Opening new applications on the computer including system popups like anti-virus notifications, Lync notifications, Skype notifications etc.
Note: Moving out of the test environment to close any notifications is also counted as leaving the test environment.
Keep this enabled for remote candidates. The ideal number of warnings is 5, which is set by default. You can change this if required.
Restrict test access for certain IP addresses
Universities use this to ensure that the test is taken only from their computer labs. You can also enable this when you invite candidates to take the test from your office premises.
Important: Do not enable this for remote tests.
