Resolving system compatibility issues

HackerEarth performs a system compatibility check on your device before you take a test. When certain permissions are disabled, there may be system compatibility issues. In such cases, follow the recommended steps based on the issue you are facing.

Important

  • We suggest you use a stable Internet connection to attempt the test. Do not use a mobile hotspot.
  • We strongly recommend using a computer/desktop system for a better test experience. While it may technically be possible to attempt the test from a mobile browser, the experience might not be optimized. For example, screen layout, navigation, and certain features may not work as expected.

Audio and microphone permissions

We require you to grant microphone access while attempting a test on HackerEarth.

Possible solutions if you are facing issues:

  1. Enable the microphone access from your browser settings.
  2. Alternatively, you can also enable this from the left icon on the address bar ( in Edge and in Chrome). View this video for a better understanding.

Web Sockets

To ensure a smooth and real-time assessment process, Web Sockets must be enabled. Web sockets allow your browser to maintain a continuous, open connection with HackerEarth servers, facilitating instant data exchange.

Possible solutions if you are facing issues:

  • For home/personal network users:
    1. Check your internet connection to ensure stability.
    2. Restart your computer to refresh the connection.
    3. Look for any firewall or browser extensions that may be blocking Web Sockets.
  • For private networks (College or Office networks):
    1. Check with your IT admins if Web Sockets are enabled in their network.
    2. Ensure your network connection is stable.
    3. Restart your browser and your computer to resolve any issues.
    4. By following these steps, you can minimize potential disruptions during your assessment.
